I was listening to Sade Adu and Lauryn hill for most of the time while making these pieces. Something struck me about the songs. Like great wine, they got better with each listen. These songs had no expiry dates, so I began to wonder why clothes and styles should. I discovered the beauty of timelessness, that man can live forever through his clothes. I discovered the art of living forever. With this collection, I explored the idea of timelessness and romance. Garments that would always be relevant to women, I pioneered this with a line of impeccably made evening dresses that celebrates youth and the female form, I also wanted to explore the idea of a vicnate tailleur, a straight wide leg pant, built in cummerbund paired with a sharp tailored jacket with satin lapels, which is inspired by monsieur Yves’s le smoking.

THE LOOKS

THE DETAILS

I’m fascinated by the idea of romance, I enjoy romantic movies and I am constantly thinking of the perfect dress a woman can wear for a night out with her lover. It could either be a slinky draped velvet number, a tailleur or a sweeter puffy ball dress which can represent a sense of naive charm that is synonymous with romance. Hence, I made these pieces fusing romance and timelessness together without actually realizing that there’s nothing more romantic than timelessness, this sort of everlasting love. Clothes, like music and film is an artistic form of expression and like all great art, I have left a part of me in each of these pieces.
